Community shows support for local business

Haddon Township (WPVI) – – a large group gathered at Jersey South on Saturday afternoon at a support show for a local family banned by immigration agents this week.

“I would cry because we put some love in their hearts this is a very good sign,” said Celal Emanet, the owner of Jersey Kebab.

Today people gathered outside Jersey Kebab to show support for the Emani family.

“I’m here because I want people to know that they can’t come to South Jersey and try to expel people,” Kaitlin Rattigan, Woodbury, New Jersey.

This is Celal and Emine Emanet. They are the owners of Jersey Kebab. They were arrested Tuesday by federal agents. Jah-Laul was released with a foot monitor to take care of their son who has autism, but his wife was sent to a structure in Jersey North. Celal said he got to see his wife briefly on Friday evening, and is encouraged by community support.

The Coupleifi moved to the United States in 2008 with an R1 visa and before expiring, Celal applied for a green card. According to Celal, this request was denied three times, and the couple’s issue has been pending since 2016. People in the community kept signs, frustrated for what they are calling an injustice.

“You can feel the love that is present here today. People are emerging because these people are pillars in the community,” said Michele Messer, from Haddon Township.

Today we talked to the couple’s son who is grateful for the support of the support.

“I am overwhelmed with all the love and support we have received even though it happened at the cost of a tragedy and at my mother’s cost was at closing now,” said Muhammad Emman, manager/co -owner Jersey Kebab.

An Ice -ie spokesman sent this statement to Action News:

“American immigration and customs implementation, with support from the US Marshal and DEA service, conducted law enforcement actions as part of a continuing investigation into Haddon Township, NJ, 25 February.

During the investigation, ICE administratively arrested two Turkish citizens, Emine and Celal Emanet, who are present in the United States illegally. ICE authority under the title 8 of the US Code enables the Agency to investigate and enforce immigration laws, especially in cases where immigration violations are crucified with national security, public security and transnational crime. The names were given a notice to appear before an immigration judge and place in the removal procedures.

Emine Emannet remains in the custody of ice and Celal Emanet is in an alternative to detention (ATD), any procedure pending removal. ATD I ICE program, which began in 2004, uses technology and management of cases to ensure foreign compliance with issuing conditions, court hearings and final removal orders. Foreigners registered with ATD must respect the terms and conditions of their requests for issuing and ATD. Depending on the circumstances of the case, disrespect may result in an immigration judge to issue a final order and may make a foreign advantage for arrest and removal from ICE.

As with any non-citizen in the United States without legal status, ICE officers make case-by-case implementation decisions to focus on the greatest threats to homeland safety in a professional and responsible way informed by their experience as law enforcement officials. According to ice policy, we will not discuss active or ongoing investigations. ICE is also unable to provide any information on prohibited individuals due to issues of intimacy. “

“I think it’s important to learn it and the next generation that come to love their neighbors,” said Brett Afunti, from Haddon Township.

Local community support is growing aloud. People, young and old, put hearts with messages in the restaurant windows.

“Everyone matters,” said Willow Affrunti, from Haddon Township.
